After a extremely tough 30 km bush/swamp ride today I have developed an issue with my transmission. I got back to the trailer and load up the max iv but upon arriving at home when I went to back it off it would not shift into reverse. I pulled it off the trailer with the quad and drove it into the shop. I pulled up the floor boards and nothing seemed amiss. I then put light pressure on the shifter lever and tapped the individual levers lightly with a small hammer and it went into neutral. I could then shift from forward to reverse with no major issue although it seems a tad stiffer. So what's wrong my machine is a 2008 with 200 hrs on it . I have no idea where to even start to make a repair if needed. I must have shifted from forward to reverse today 50 times as we were stuck to many times to mention. Is something wore out? Any help would be much appreciated.

Try disconnecting the rods that go from the arm to the diamond shifters on the top of the t20. May have to remove back seat to make it easier. The rods should move forward and back with detent at all 3 positions. If one side moves and the other doesn't you know which side is at fault. I'm thinking the diamond shifters are binding up in the case , maybe rust or crud. With the seat out you can spray penetrating oil or WD-40 on the shifters and it will set in the pocket and lube them. Other than that maybe something under front floor jambing shift lever or rod.

Also check the metal plates above the diamonds have not moved or bent, this could allow the diamonds to cock in the hole when shifting creating the bind.sigpic
My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
Joe Camel never does that.
