  • T-20 Metal shaving removal.

OK, The shift Pin in my t-20 broke, was told by RI that it couldn't get down into the gears and just run it. Also told the same thing by some forum members. OK, tried to fish it out with a magnet, got half , then a LOT of metal fragments ! OK Teardown time. Well, they are absolutely right, there is no possibility of the broken pin getting out into the tranny. Instead, it will sit and grind down between the housing and shift drum. I opened up the tranny, and found the other lower half, well, what hadn't ground away yet!

And the fluid that remained was thick with shavings. I pulled out dozens of clumps of this with a magnet.

SO. ANYONE have an idea on how to get all these shavings out? The magnet is REALLY tedious, and doesn't get it all. ALSO, I am putting a magnet on the drain plug, anyone know a good source for a LARGE Neo-Dymium magnet? I will just epoxy it to the drain plug and maybe one on the other side, considering a second drain since the center plate will keep a lot of metal debrise from getting to the drain side.

Yea, If I knew what I was gonna find before I ordered the pins and seals, I would have ordered it, but now I gotta make it. Too much for shipping.
