  • Building a simple AATV Transmission, similar to Muskateer 'Black Box'?

Well, i've done it again. Over the past few years I have owned a few different AATV's, a MAX II, an ATTEX and a hustler. While all have their benefits, none have quite met my needs, so long story short, I have decided to attempt to build one that does. The frame, axles, body etc. will be fairly easy, where I am struggling is the transmission. Initially, I was considering a simple setup, utilizing two 'Bearing walls' (or a large piece of square tubing), with 3 shafts run through it. One would externally have a driven clutch on it, and inbetween would have a sprocket. The other two, would have a pully sheave on each outer end, and a sprocket on the inside. The chain would run around the driven sprocket, over the 2nd one (Foward), and around the 3rd (Reverse). A belt would run from each pully to a double sheave pully on each side of the machine (Rear or center axle), with a simple idler setup to tighten either the foward or reverse belts. However, after doing some research, I came across a photo of a 'black box' transmission from a muskateer (SP?), anyone have insight as to how this transmission works? Trying to build this from all off-the-shelf parts....Any help is appreciated!
