  • T20 transmission band anchor pin question

I just rebuilt my t20 transmission … got in installed and did a test ride. Came back and started to clean my workbench and buried under a few tools was one pin sleeve (not installed) that rides on the anchor pin between transmission band loops. So question is..is the pin sleeve more of a precaution?. I am thinking the bands should stay in place as the other side of band is attached to the o-ring plunger which is secured in the plunger hole preventing the band to slide up/down the drum.
Or am I just wishful thinking....I hate the thought of pulling the t20 back out

I think you have answered your own question. It is in there as a precaution against out of alignment band wear. Do you want to roll the dice is the question. I feel your pain.

Done that. I pulled the transmission back out to install the spacer. I took one apart once that had one of the spacers missing and the drum was badly grooved. I'm not sure if the was a direct cause/ effect but I couldn't bring myself to take the chance.
