  • differences in driven clutches

i'm going to be putting a 4 stroke in the old max II that i just got. i've read a lot on here about changing clutch springs, but i was wondering if i need a different driven, or can i put a red spring in my existing clutch and be ok?? is there such thing as a "2 stroke" or 4"stroke" driven clutch?

Brian, from what I hear, you can just put a red or green spring in your existing clutch and you'll be good to go. I believe George is actually doing the same thing on his Attex Chief trail rig that he put a Briggs Vanguard in.

I'll have to look, but I might have a 4 stroke clutch spring for you Brian. I don't know if it is a red or green because of the surface rust on it. If I come across it you can have it for free.

My 208tt has a 4 stoke and a baker hill 7000 from some other attex, maybe Don knows???? The chances are probably not a 4 stroke. I never changed the driven and it works great. If I remember, I will take a look at the stock 208tt which is the 6000 I have laying around and the stock st300 7000 trans and see if I notice any differance in spring pressure or anything else in the drivens. I know it will work, just not sure if there is actually a differance. I dont think there is though as the differance is the drive which with the differant weights and rpms probably equal the same belt sqeezing force. Which in turn spreads the driven.

Brian, I just got your money order this evening, so it will be going out tomorrow. I'd be happy to put the spring in there for you.
