T-20 out of an old Max

I picked up an old Max recently. The shell is junk, but I was after parts anyway.

I opened up the T-20 and it looks great. The bands have some wear, but the rest looks like new. There was no fluid in it, so I'm going to order a seal kit. Should I replace anything else while it's open?

It looks like the bands' liner are worn through in some places so you need to get new bands too while you are in there or you will destroy the drums pretty quickly and end up tearing it back apart. Also, while you are in there, go ahead and replace the output shaft bearings (one on each side) along with the output shaft seals. Those are the worst to replace since you have to take everything else apart to get to them but they are still not too bad.

Just curious, is what is the reasoning for using RI for bands only???

I was recommending that you purchase new bands direct from Recreatives simply because anyone else selling them has to buy from Recreatives too. That way you get the best price.

I thought that RC had some relined bands where you traded him your old ones for his.
