  • Transmission for tracked ATV

Building a tracked ATV and looking for a transmission/steering solution.

I'm interested in the Borg Warner T20, but where can i find factory specifications, exploded view diagrams, factory user manuals &etc.?

Any suggestions from the community regarding a particular type or version of T20 that is more rugged, or another transmission altogether that would work for a lightweight tracked ATV?

    Thanks.

Now that I'm exploring the site a little bit I see lots of good stuff about the T20. I'm curious about max horsepower rating for this trans. I see the input is a drive belt - is that a centrifugal clutch? I would need to fab a coupling from output shafts to drive sprockets. Where is a good source for used T20's, and parts? Thank you...

      trans

I hate the argo personality but it is the toughest trans and you'll have a low gear which is well suited to track application.

The T20 is the way to go. Post a wanted ad here in the classifieds for it. You can get any parts you may need from Recreative Industries.

As for the HP rating, I don't believe that there is one but there are T20's on this site sitting in front of 40-50hp motors.

...it's pretty amazing that you can spin them at nearly 10,000 rpm, too...

The T-20 is the way to go 100% They are the best AATV transmission ever built and they have been around and practically unchanged since 1969. You can put any kind of device on the input shaft that you like as long as it is for a 7/8" shaft with a keyway. You can use sprockets, CVT, etc. The T-20 has a 6.21 forward ratio and a 5.21 reverse ratio and it offers you TRUE all wheel drive, as well as the ability to make both sides counter rotate.
