Anyone know the proper way to shim a driven clutch?

I was wondering if anyone knows the proper way to shim a driven clutch on the t-20 in order to spread the sheaves to except a slightly larger belt. My drive clutch is 1.25 and the driven is for 1 3/16. A 1.25 belt will ride a bit too high on the secondary. I don't know if you just find a proper shim to fit the 1 3/8 shaft between the sheaves I'm worried about something free floating on the shaft while the clutch is operating.

Maybe a press fit shim? Just idea.

good thinking Larry. I guess it would press fit on the shaft with a hydraulic press? where could you get something like that? I've only found the washer type stuff

You can use spiral snap rings that are the same size or slightly smaller than the shaft. They will fit tight on shaft without walking.

That might be the answer to my problem. My driven cluch is opening up too far and hitting the idler chaines.

Thanks guys I ordered some the size of the shaft but designed to constrict slightly smaller into a groove. I figure without the groove it should be a snug fit. If not I'll order the next size smaller. I'll update the post with pic when I do it.

I shimmed the driven with the spiral snap ring. One worked great to make a 1 3/16 clutch accept a 1.25 belt. The shaft on the driven was 1 3/8 and I ordered that size spiral snap ring. It went on good and looks like it will stay in place nicely. Thanks again to jerseybigfoot for the tip. If I encounter any problems I'll update this thread
