  • Odd spot of bother

A small chip of rubber flew of my belt the other day so I replaced it with a new one. The new one is 2mm wider than the old one, but when i open up the engine to full noise the driven cluch opens up far enough to touch the idler chain (made a hell of a noise).I'm picking it is to do with the driver cluch being a little worn and pushing the sides togeather too much. Is there some way i can put a spacer in the cluch to prevent this or do it to the driven cluch maybe? The belt cost me NZ$114 from the Argo dealer wich blew me away a bit . There is a guy in Auckland that sells driver belts but I couldn't find him. The clutches are working fine at the moment so shimming one up seems to be the go at the moment. Summer is coming here and the mud is starting to disappear

some times on the Argo if you dont keep your chains tight enough the sprocket on the break disk can ware and this allows the chain to move twords the driven clutch. Make sure your teeth on that sprocket are not worn away. this only happens when you are at full throttle right?

The sprockets are as new and the chains are tight.

A worn belt is replaced at 33mm. mine was 33.5 (just about dead). The new one is 35, so the differance is not enough to cause the problem. How would you stop the driven clutch from opening up too far.
