Can anyone please tell me what fluid I should be running in an older Max IV trans?

HELLO.

Use a good regular ATF fluid and some folks like add a bit of Anti-Slip condtioner.

1 Qrt should fill it up or unitl it just start to come out the lower drain hole..

trans ATF

atf type F or dextron and add limited slip i was told total of 1 quart /so leave out the amount of limited slip taking away from the atf( TOTAL 1 QUART) i have also seen post saying till it comes out the bottom plug not sure about that

One tip I have learned regarding the limited slip differential additive is make sure it is mixed thoroughly with the ATF as you add.Originally I dumped it in (4 oz.) then 28 oz. of ATF.This does nearly precisely make it start weeping out the lower(level) hole.If not pre-mixed my experience was for the first several hours the tranny would chatter in reverse unless reall hard pull back on the levers. :-)
