  • Availability of “Red Springs”

Perhaps you folks have already heard about this . . . but just in case you haven’t . . . the company that makes those “red springs” for AATV’s has closed their doors and is no longer making these springs.

Recreatives is all out of their inventory of “red springs.” I was able to buy one from Richard’s Relics. But, the guy I talked to at Richard’s Relics said that they, too, are going to be affected by that company closing down. So, apparently, they used that same manufacturer.

This is just an FYI . . . in case you were considering MAYBE getting one. You better make your decision soon.

Does ODG also use Comet clutches for the Argo?

It seems to me with so many ATVs, golf carts and snowmobiles out there, somebody will fill the void.

      I hope so.

Nope, George.. think they still use Canadian made Powerbloc.

I would think a spring company could make a run of those red springs, no trouble.

If anyone is interested in converting over to a Polaris on the trans I can make up the sleeves and step key.

I am sure it won’t be very long before SOMEBODY--some company--steps up to fill the void of this other company closing. That is for sure. That is the beauty of free enterprise capitalism.

Besides, I am sure there are quite a few of those springs out there in various businesses’ inventories that will last for a short while. They may just be hard to find.

This spring company’s closing even sneaked up on the people at RI . . . at least the way it sounded to me. I guess it wasn’t until RI was trying to fill my parts order (which included several other things, as well) that they realized that they were out of these red springs. But, when they tried to call this company to order some more to fill my order and to restock their inventory, they learned that this company was out of business.

            Strange.

I understand that Polaris purchased the engineering/manufacturing rights from Comet. Hopefully they also purchased the "goodwill", sales and continue the product line.
