  • Extra Little Twist on Green Spring

Well I'm into to it big now,

Have the T-20 all torn down and ready to re-assemble, thank god for the 12 ton press I bought a year or so ago, i used it for axel straightening and to press out the secondary that was seized to the tranny..Best money I ever spent..!!

    Anyway I'm all good now..

Question.. Why can't you just give the old green spring and extra twist before locking it down instead of going to red spring.. We do this on sleds all the time. Actually most sled secondary's will provide you with that adjustment to help with rev pull down " Back Shifting" ..

    Any thoughts..

Ps.Thanks to Dan @ RI.. guy is fantastic, I would buy a Max over an Argo just because those R.I support engineers are so helpful..

    Max..

The red spring is stiffer and also longer than the stock green spring.

Cheers and Happy Thankgiving to all you U.S folks..Enjoy the time with your families..

Ive done that on go-karts. The one I had, had a lot of differant holes to put the spring in and you could play with it for the tension you wanted. I dont see why not on an amphib. Sleds, amphibs....all the same.

Depends on the clutch, some have holes some have notches. The holes and notches give you some fine tuning. but may not be as noticeable with the lower rpm 4 stroke than a sled engine. If the spring has enough coils you can advance it an additional ramp. If you go an additional ramp make sure the spring is not hitting or binding on the shaft.

            MAX,

I was thinking the same thing earlier this year when I was messing with the spring in my hustler. I think the problem would be (assuming you don't have adjustment notches or holes) that the tension result from moving the Helix to the next ramp would be too great. The clutches with the adjustment I've seen are fairly close together and allow some fine tuning but to adjust a whole ramp may be too much pressure in the spring. Just a guess though.

              Yep..

I would agree with that, but i may try a extra ramp just for fun.

You are right, Tuneable clutches do have the adjustment holes pretty close togther..

Will let you know how it turns out..

              Cheers all..
