Hi, I have a Hustler 950. the right side works fine - forward, backward. but, the left side will only go forward, but not backward. what is the problem?

Make sure your shift linkage is working properly and your transmission is adjusted within spec. If so then pull the diamond shifter out on the side that isn't working properly and make sure that the pin on the inside of the diamond shifter is still there and round like it should be.
If everything looks fine there then you most likely have a bad brake band that will need to be replaced. If this is the case then further usage of the transmission will also cause wear on the drum and both will need to be replaced. So go ahead and tear the trans apart to replace the band. It's not too difficult of a job.
