measuring for belt

I have a older max 2 with a twin 16 L head motor hows the best way to measure for a new belt to get the right fit?

Hey are you supposed to measure with motor slid all the way forward or to the back of the machine?

[Mike]

If you measure with the engine closest to the trans then it allows your belt to stretch some but you should give yourself a little room to play with in either direction so that you can adjust the motor slightly to make up for rounded measurements or belts that aren't exactly the right size.
