  • Can I shim out my secondary clutch

Just finished a complete drive train overhaul of my conquestand everthing works good except the secondary is rubbing on the drive chain at higher rpm's. I fixed this before by installing a new spring but now every thing in the secondary is new and its set to "1" so i'm not sure what to do now

How much do you need to move the clutch out?

Not sure, I think I'm just going to start at 1/16" and work from there. Maybe Ill use my old belt for the trial run!

        I don't see that as a problem.
A few yrs ago I was helping a guy "on the trail", and he had his Secondary shimmed out about 1/8" (one washer). I didn't get into details, but I did ask how long he had had that shim in there. He replied "About 2yrs, it helps with the alignment".
I let it go at that, but he seemed to be doing all right with it.

1/8" seemed to do the trick....doesn't rub the the chain anymore. I'll keep an eye on the belt to see if there are any adverse affects
