Could someone please explain to me the difference between a racing t20 and a normal t20 made around the same time. Richard Relics is saying something about solid bilit drums on the racing t20. Thanks

billet drums would be so high priced you could not afford them. your best bet is to pm don or whipper . i know whipper is pouring 50 &60 hp in a reg t 20 .and don about the same thing robbie

I have never heard of a racing T-20. Maybe you're referring to the older style supported shaft style T-20 with the main input shaft that is supported by a needle bearing at the opposite end of the transmission case. And as Robbie said, billet drums would be soooooo high priced it wouldn't even be cost effective to produce them.

Some of the big-time racers cut the bands in the T20 to give them more "feel" for the track. Instead of going around the drum nearly three turns, the bands only go around about two when they're cut. I've never driven one set up like that but the drivers said they worked great and didn't slip. (I think Mike Gerber won the Stock two-stroke class last year with such a set-up). The only other thing different may be starting out with an older unit that has the support on both ends like has already been mentioned. If someone has a set of billit drums they want tested, send them on down- I'd like to try 'em.

Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.

Thanks for the input guys. I was just curious if Borg Warner made such a specialized animal. It seems like some guys may buy some billit drums from Richard and work something up themselves.
