  • Draining fluid.

Can the trans fluid be sufficiently drained by suspending the front of machine? I have a 98 Max IV. Also thought about drain hose Idea which I found posts on, Think I will do that. Another Idea is to use a pipe nipple to extend the fill hole for easy access, has anyone tried that?
Brand new to this, all ideas appreciated.

    Kind regards, Ryan

Any of those ideas will work. If you will use the search in the transmission and the max forum you will find lots of posts on this topic. This thread has some links to them to get you started: http://www.6x6world.com/forums/max-a...ion-fluid.html

Changed trans fluid yesterday went pretty smooth lifted front of machine with the winch didn't really care for how it pulled the tub though, I will probably use straps from the front axles and a chain fall next time. However it worked well, I cut out a plastic container to fit under the drain hole and it worked slick. The fluid was dirty but not metallic or contaminated looking the magnetic drain plug had a slight fine sludge on it but no filings or chips. All in all pretty reassuring. Used a flexible funnel to do the refill, no problems.
Also changed engine oil and filter.
