  • No Reverse anyone ?

Went out 6 wheeling last night and my buddy's max would not shift in to reverse, in fact the shifter was jammed in forward like something was broke. I asked him how long it was like that and he said about a month and he had no one to fix it. Then when I got the transmission on my machine hot in the swamp, my right side shifter stuck then freed up when it cooled a little. ( I split my right and left side so I can have one side in forward and one side in reverse at the same time) We got back to my shop and the problem was the shaft that goes from the shift arm into the transmission was seized in the aluminum. The t-20 has a pocket at the top around the shift shaft that holds water and seizes up. Some P-oil and working it, freed it right up. Blowing the water off and a few drops of oil after riding would be the best cure. Hope this helps anyone with a similar problem.

Ya know, that raises an interesting point, these things have such awesome "go-ability" that I have made several consecutive trips through my trails without ever having to shift into reverse. I can see how this could happen, but I keep my plungers lubbed with a covering of grease. It keeps trash, dirt, and water out, and I just wipe it away and replace with fresh from time to time.
DESTRUCTION is just a couple of vowels down the street from DISTRACTION
