  • broken shift lever and collar. where to find parts?

Just bought our first Max II and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't shift into reverse. After reading through the site and finding out some tips. I pulled the right shift lever and found that the shift pin broke off. Looking down into the trans i noticed that the shift collar flange was broke too. It's time to rebuild it. Where do you all get your parts from?

Best bet would be to call R.I. You could also pm Hey_Dan on this site. He's our man on the inside at Recreatives.

Ouch, i see you used a puller to get it out and now that it is out it appears as though there are burrs at the bottom of the lever where the pin broke out the side ,those burrs may have dug deep gouges in the case as you pulled the lever out and if there are gouges in the case the o-ring at the top of the lever may never seal properly again and blow trani oil out , any time the lever does not come out by gently twisting and pulling on it , it shold be removed by prying off the diamond plate (which is pressed on) and pushing the lever into the inside of the trani after opening it up and pulling the sproket shaft out, check to see if your o-ring surface is now damaged ,if it is minor scratch then you may get away with it but if it is badly gouged you may have to replace that case half.

A Mans level of mechanical education directly corresponds to the level pain suffered while getting it
