  • Comet 94c vs Salisbury on JLO 440

I did some excellent garbage picking today and got myself a very nice Comet 94c drive clutch. The guy told me it is all dialed in for a 440. I have the original Salisbury drive clutch on my JLO 440 on my racer (and it works very well).

My question is, should I replace the Salisbury, which was original equipment on my JLO with the Comet 94c? Will I gain any performance on my racer by making the switch?

And here's a video of Joe M's Chief with a 94c Comet for reference.

I've always thought of the 94C as a utility clutch for "average" use. Comet came out with them about the time that Salsbury stopped production: probably a connection there. If the 910 is working well and has no problems I'd keep it or better yet, find a 102C or a 108C to take it's place! Good luck, JP.

Thanks Don. I appreciate the advice. I've heard a lot of good things about the 102c. I'd imagine I'll probably come across one down the road, so for now I'll just keep the Salsbury on there.

I find the 102C a tight fit with the body. Any suggestions?

can you heat the body and remold it around the clutch?

I would put a guard around that. I blew up a 94c once.
