Towards the end of Ashtabula weekend I was having trouble climbing hills. Some of the trouble was choke, but that was corrected. The rest was apparently a slipping drive belt (thanks Don) . No suprise, its 40 yrs old and I'm sure the rubber has hardened. My question is....Whats the best place to get one at and what type is best? It is 52+ inches long and 1 3/16 wide (now). Will a little wider say 1 1/4 hurt anything? 52" is a long belt, I'm sure I could adust it so a shorter belt would work, but I still bet it needs to be 50" long.

Buggyman, i tried several places to find a belt that was long enough for my machine. It uses a 47.5 or 48 1 and 3/16 inch wide. Quality drive systems had 5 on his shelf. I would check him first. I called lots of dealers prior to talking with him and it was like talking another language to these people. I would start there and if he does not have it he could direct you to the place or give you a number. Hope this helps.
Here is a link to his home page.

LewisLife should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

I did a little research online. Carlisle bought out dayco in 2001. Belts are available in the right length, but to get over 50" they are wider. I'm afraid of them riding up on the driven clutch and coming off. Is it practical to put a shim between the plates to keep them open alittle? (and the belt level with the top)
