    Transmission Crafters

I received my four bands just a few minutes ago and they look great. Jay at Transmission Crafters did an outstanding job at a fair price. He says he is ready for as many bands as we can all send him. The normal turn around time should be about 7 to 10 days. I took some pictures and the thickness in several areas is about .053 inches. The bare metal measured about .066 and the finished band checked out .119 inches. He is charging 35 dollars per band and my shipping via UPS from his shop was 8 dollars and some change. See pics for more info. I will be putting my T-20 back together tomorrow and then I can start working on the engine

pffft.... think nothing of it. You're quite welcome. There's also the place that Jersey listed, which is also a viable alternative.

Free market capitalism is a beautiful, beautiful thing. Make them compete for our business. It's the only way to keep vendors honest, and force a product to evolve.

Thanks for going through the motions to contact TC. Like Race said, when you get your bands back post some pix. I have got 8 bands that need attention and it won't be the last.

That is great, you would think that the other place would have welcomed the extra $ potential. It seems to me that alot more of the older T-20 machines seem to be getting put back into service.

Good News...I just got off the phone with Transmission Crafters in Albany GA. The owner Jay says he used to do the bands many years ago for one of the major suppliers but for one reason or another was run out of the skid steer relining business by another competitor (Alabama Bands). He say's he will take the bare bands which mine measured .07" (or any band), strip it clean, and add .045" to the depth for a total depth of .115". I believe this is the correct depth for a relined band. He will do it for $35.00 a band and accepts credit cards. I will send him my 4 bands in the morning. He basically said he would love to have the business and does not have any ties or commitments to any other relined band reseller. Fingers crossed I will post the results as soon as I get mine back. If you want to send yours, the address is on the website. Send them to the Albany, GA location and include your return info/phone number. Transmission Crafters, torque converters, automatic transmission bands, hi performance transmission bands, antique transmission bands, brake bands, friction material, stall converters, skid steer brake bands, relining services,

I guess I just got lucky. The set I just got back must have been the last set they wanted to do on an individual basis. I hope my ugly bands I had them reline didn't ruin it for everybody. I am sorry if it did. I sent them a check before they even sent the bands, so I don't think there would be any issue there. I talked with Tish. Never got the impression that anything was wrong.
