MY SEAL ON THE CLUTCH SIDE BEHING SPROCKET IS DRIPPING ONLY WHEN YOUR IN GEAR CAN I PUT TRANSMISSION TREATMENT IN IT TO STOP LEAKEING FOR NOW TILL I CAN TEAR IT DOWN AND FIX.
Shane,
If someone has rebuilt your t-20 before there is a good chance they used the wrong bearing. If they used a stock bearing and did not put the c-clip in to hold it in place because it won't fit, you should stop driving and tear it down. Check for play in the output shaft. The proper bearing is 2/100ths of an inch narrower than a RI bearing. With the wrong one it could shake your transmission case to crap. If your sure its just a seal failure, I don't see the harm in a little drip as long as you top off the t-20 before/after each ride.
Shane, is it leaking a lot? If you put it in gear, how often does it drip? Also check to see if the seal lip rolled somehow when you put the transmission back together. This could be the cause of your leak.(always prelube shafts and their seals before assembling) As Drew said, if you're sure the only problem is a small leak, and it's not slinging fluid everywhere, then a little riding shouldn't hurt, just plan to fix asap, and keep some extra fluid with you. JIC!
