  • couter rotation max

    a friend put the 2 shifters in his max 2 for it to CR . it will not . need some ideas thanks. robbie
    1999 max 2 18 b&s 22 tires custom . new max iv 23 k 26 i/n tires brown . ht cable promark winch . new toy 1972 attex st400 400ccjlo and she will be bad . ( the frog ) if it don't float with out you getting wet . don't bring it ! R.I.P sage rogers 4 11 09 . you can't fix stuped !!!!! raceone 3 .)

    When you say it will not, what is it doing? Just dont have the power to do it? Maybe the belt is worn?

        Well I would check the belt or not sure if it was you driving it or not but also it is kinda complicated on the correct position of the sticks for it to work right. You know when your in reverse it works backwards but when you are in both forward and reverse it gets complicated, lol. The one I did I only drove a little bit but I had to actually think of where they had to be, I couldnt just do it second hand. Maybe with more time with it but I never did.

            Ok I talked to him on pm and thought I would post what he is finding to possible help others. He says it works fine off the ground on jack stands but not on the ground. My guess is a belt issue or possible the bands need adjusting. Something must be slipping. Counter rotating takes a lot more power so what ever is slipping when you counter rotate might not be so noticeable during normal driving.

                Sorry to disagree Larry....counter rotating takes less HP than Sliding sideways(skid steering).....And I can prove it...Come on over and try to turn on dry concrete.....it's hard to skid steer, but counter rotating is easy.
                It does seem a little backwards to push on one stick while pulling back on the other....I bet that is the issue...oterwise look at the diamond shifters to make sure they are where they should be.

                  Sorry to disagree with you disagreeing but how many tires are powered during a skid steer verse counter rotate? What the brakes were doing the engine is now doing. The Machine is trying to go forward and backwards at the same time. How can that use less hp?

                    I also think counter roatating takes more power than skid steering. I split the shifters in my Max IV and it takes a lot more power to counter rotate from a dead stop. How I get around it is to start moving with one of the sticks in neutral position and once I start moving, engage the other side.

                      I am going to agree with larry and liflod on this one. I tried this with my hustler from a dead stop once. The engine bogged down and struggled, but the machine never moved. Yet it has no trouble turning normally.

                        i have the split shifter in mine and it does take a alot more grunt to counter rotate from a dead stop i use the same technique i start one side rolling forward then engage the other tires it works quite well my spit shift has got me out of alot of sticky situations

                          Robbie,

                          is it possible that he is not pushing and pulling on the appropriate sticks fully? I found with my Hustler it wasn't natural to push and pull then hit the gas.

                            I too have found it takes more hp to cr with split shift, get one side moving then engage other side.Works great then.
