Transmission Crafters Rock. Sent 4 bands USPS on tue 2-8-11 and was told they should arrive in GA. on fri 2-11-11. On fri I get a call from Transmission Crafters thinking they are going to inform me that they have received my shipment and instead were needing credit card info to return ship my completed bands! Recieved my bands on tue 2-15-11 via UPS and they look real nice. I'm impressed.

Get that trans ready Joe! We are expecting your company.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

I'd like to add my experience with transmission crafters. I sent my bands to them to get relined. I spoke with Jay the owner on the phone and he was very knowledgable with our bands, width, and material. I received my bands back and unfortunately two had a defects on them. There were spots where the band material did not cover the entire width of the band. I contacted Jay and he was more than willing to fix the issue. I mailed the bands back at no cost and received them in perfect condition a week later. First class service and stand behind their product.

Before I learned that you could have your old T-20 bands relined , I used to throw them away and order new bands from Recreatives. I saved the olds bands that I took out of my T-20 after I replaced them with new ones. I know where I,ll be sending my worn out bands now!

Can someone please supply me the contact information for Transmission Crafters? I need to get some bands for relined for a T-20 or get replacements ordered elsewhere. Also, if anyone has experience running the relined bands, I would appreciate their results? Is this the way to go or is buying new a good plan? I am thinking that this may be an economical choice to get me going. What are the rough prices for relining?

While I am here, I have posted a little background on me and my machine. This is my first post on the forum. I have an older MAX II that sat in a farmers cattle shed for most of 10 years before I purchased it 5 years ago. The light use means that the body is very good. I picked it up for $500.00 and it was healthy enough to drive for a little while. It had the 400 JLO twin in it and I ran it very well for a very short time before the bottom transmission plunger seals let go and stopped my driving it any longer. I pulled it back out of hiding this fall and have completed all bearings, chains, etc. on it, and am in process of replacing the JLO with an 18 hp Briggs and Stratton I picked up along the way. The transmission looks to have collected moisture and shelled its linings free from the bands when I drove it earlier. It looks as though the fluid leak saved me as I shut it down before destroying all of the drums (whew!). I have one with scarring but have a replacement that came with a spare parts MAX that I acquired knowing that this day would come. I am trying to resurrect this machine on a shoe-string budget as family and food come first but really want to get it going again so I can run it with the kids. Best part of all of this is that my 8 year old daughter has learned to break chain and clean out bodies during this project. She is claiming first ride when it runs again!! The other three "just wanna ride when its done!" Thanks in advance for the help.
