It seems to be the ticket! I have heard no complaints just compliments.Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

I drove a 750HDI at River Run. The transmission operated well, although somewhat differently than a t-20. It was a bit disconcerting initially hearing the internal differentials locking and unlocking. However, once I got a little stick time and overcame some obstacles, the background noise became less and less noticeable to me.
A skid steer steers like a skid steer. There is a certain amount of mechanical noise with the admiral transmission, however in feeling the way it transmits power, I was impressed. Especially considering it has a high and low range. In low range, I felt the transmission was incredibly strong. In high range it operated much like a t-20. The Admiral is a strong unit, I really could find no criticism with it.

Answers about the Argo Admiral transmission
The Admiral is a true six wheel drive transmission.
When you steer the admiral one side slows down to 1/3 speed which gives you drive on all the wheels and gives you a big advantage when you steer the machine in bad a mud hole. This is the only machine I have driven that gives you so much control in thick mud.
You can make slight turns or slight turning corrections in low range without activating the counter rotation feature.
When I use the low range to pull out a 4 wheeler, I set myself up for a straight back in low range or I use minor steering input so I don't activate the counter rotation.
The counter rotation is great on trails, grass or light mud but using the low range counter rotation feature in thick mud is hard on the machine and requires to much power.
Does the steering offer as much control going down a trail as a T-20?
No, but you get familiar with the steering and you learn how to control it after some stick time.
My preference for the Admiral would be a high and low range with a separate switch for the counter rotation. If I had this feature I would never use the counter rotation.
Can you make sharp turns like a T-20?
No, the steering is more gradual but still very effective 90% of the time.
Using the counter rotation you can spin on a dime.
There is some mechanical noise but as Noel said, after awhile you become accustomed to it .
I hope this answers questions for anyone wanting an AdmiralLast edited by mightymaxIV; 03-10-2011, 05:25 AM.
