OK my shift collars have snap rings on them. I have tried with no luck to remove the snap rings with snap ring pliers but i cant get the angle needed to grab them. Do any of you have any ideas on how to remove them.

try and see if you can get a small screwdriver behind it when using the snap
ring plyers and if it wont pop out just try and grab it with some niddle nose
and pull it out and just find new clips at ACE

I use snap ring pliers to spread it just a bit, then a 90 degree pick to get under the ring and pull it up. if you have 2 picks, it makes it a bit easier to walk the ring up out of the grove. Like WFO said, if you mangle the snapring it's no big deal. they are cheap and easy to find
