  • Does this look broken?

I have the transmission out of my Argo 8x8. It would stop pulling on the left side whenever put into a bind. You could change directions and it would go back to pulling for a while. Whenever it waould stop the transmission was knocking very loudly. I have it apart and other than some wear on the shaft gears it doesnt look that bad. Could this be the problem? I haven taken the sun cluster apart as it looks great and seems to work smoothly. I was expecting more damage than I found. Dont want to replace a few bearings and a couple of gears if this isnt the problem. As it stands I am going to replace it if it doesnt look very good. Including shifter parts.

all those parts look ok to me, you say it would stop pulling on the right side ?? sounds to me like you have a broken pin or two somewhere

Robinhood, On the left side it would stop pulling and the transmission was knocking like someone was in there with a hammer. It would operate normally on flat ground and minor mudd and stuff. Coming out of a creek or turning sharply with several people in it and it would stop pulling on the left until you changed gear and then went back to the direction you wanted. Sounds like maybe a sun or planetary problem but they look good so far, without pulling the cluster apart.
