  • Output shaft bearing removal

Hi, I am rebuilding a T-20 that was tore apart and left. The bearings are shot. Question is how do you get the pocket bearing out that is in the clutch side output shaft. Its the small one the input shaft rides in.
Also missing one ring gear drum and the 3 small gears that go on the carrier drum if anyone has an extra they want to sell.

    thanks for help

    hi ,
Needle roller/ ball bearing in a open/blind hole = collet puller set made by toledo tools
Expands on the inside with a very small lip [hooks the end of bearing ].All this is attached to a slide hammer .Some are very tight .
I always use a stepped driving tool which has been machined slightly smaller than o/d and the full lenght of the i/diameter for assembly .Some needle rollers collapse easily if hit even with a small hammer .
IF my description is not what ur chasing refer the many trans overhaul threads by searching ..

    cheers

Vety old thread, but can anyone say exactly which Teledo collet bearing tool is needed? Which one is the correct one? Thanks.

This thread refers to t-20's from the late 60's and early 70's that have a support bearing on the inner end of the input shaft. This bearing is not needed as the planetary gear design distributes the force equally. That is why the bearing was eliminated on later models.

Oh. I must be confused. My T20 has a small needle bearing on the left hollow output shaft, right where the sprocket is. I had thought this is what the tool was used for (removing that bearing).
I am looking for the proper tool to remove the bearing on the left hollow output shaft. Any ideas? Thank you.

Yup, that's the bearing. You either have an older t-20 or an older output shaft in it. I've removed the bearings by destroying them. Basically hammering a small screwdriver between the bearing and housing.

Mine is a 2005 Max IV. Must have an older shaft.
I got that bearing with some anger, a few harsh words and a couple of promises, but it came out (screw driver between them, too). I think a proper tool would be better.
