  • another scrambler transmission question

How does the brake disc actually slide away from the clutch disc?Does the inner bearings in the disc slide toward the end of the main shaft or do the bearings stay in place attached to the shaft and the disk moves ?My thoughts are bearing slide in the shaft but wouldnt the shaft start to wear?I have good bearings but the one disc seems do be a little sticky sliding it on the shaft. This would help knowing the exact engineering because either way it seems that the inner bore of the brake disc would wear if the bearings moved. The question sounds more confusing than it is.I am awaiting Larry wisdom once again.

The driven discs (with sprockets) have the bearings pressed in and slide on the main shaft. You should not see much wear on the shaft unless the bearings fail.
Each outboard bearing should fit tight in the steel 2 bolt bearing retainer otherwise the steering gets sloppy.
