  • Changing the weights or springs in the Max IV clutch

I already got the red spring for the T20 pulley.

any of you changed the springs or weights in the driver clutch ?

it's a Comet 780 with the blue springs and the mysterious oringed roller with side cones (no color)

Any of you got a spring or weight recalibration kit from RI ?

with the blue springs and side cones, best case is 1500rpm engagement, worst is 1100rpm.

they are calling for a 1700rpm clutch on the 302405A.. - 780 Series Drive Clutch for Recreatives Ind Max ATVs

but my 302405 look like a 1500rpm inside.

the goal of my quest/question : I'm barely using the Max during summer but use it every week-end during winter.

loaded with kids, on heavy rubber tracks, in tons of snow with a rev happy engine.

What are you trying to accomplish? With 30 hp, you may need to switch to a different clutch rated for that much hp. I believe the 780 is only rated for 25hp.

RI wants about $50 for each roller and arm. Is there another option for buying clutch parts that anyone has success with.

Right now I'm looking into the Polaris primary (as tunable as possible)

or the CVtech IBS 06 serie clutch (what argo are using and what RI is looking at)

RI highly recommended the CVtech clutch. "eliminates belt slip under heavy loads"

I changed my driven clutch to a 32 degree unit I had on the shelf. I updated it with the green spring that I took off the original driven. The reduction in angle actually has more impact on the driven than changing the spring. So the driven I am using now (32 degree with a green spring), up shifts slower and downshifts faster than the original (35 degree with red spring). I only have a few minutes of driving it, but I can tell a huge difference. It actually felt like I had engine braking!

it will be the Polaris P85; it's tough, tunable and cheap ....
