  • Proper Belt length

I need to how to measure to get the proper length of belt between the engine and transmission. I had to replace the engine so the distance is not the same any longer. I have about 2-3 inches of play it still drives fine but i want order the correct belt. Just not sure how to measure with a CVT system i know how to measure for normal pullies but im not sure about this application. Any help would be great.

Place the engine to the closest position to the driven clutch.
(when the belt stretches you will be able to tighten it)
Wrap a piece of twine around the shaft on the engine clutch and the outside largest diameter of the driven clutch.
Mark the twine and measure it ...add 2 inches to the measurement and get that length.
After you install the belt drive a bit and check the deflection.
1 inch to 1.5 inches of deflection works good on my machine but you may need to adjust yours differently.

If you knew the original center to center measurement.........and the new measurement was say 2" farther. You would need a belt that was 4" longer than the original.
