  • Used t20 worth ?

No leaks and everything seems to turn good by hand but haven't seen it in a machine. What would be a fair asking price?

It seems that T-20s have been going for between $300 and $500 pretty regularly. It's always a complete crapshoot when the insides are concerned. If you really want to maximize the money you get out of one, it's best to split the cases and inspect it in order to show prospective buyers what they're getting. A T-20 can spin freely by hand, have no leaks and still need $500 worth of parts to get it back in service. Then again, you could sell it for $200 and be leaving $400-$500 on the table if it's perfect inside. I hope this isn't too vague; it's just that it's basically a coin toss if you don't know what the inside is like.

I'll second what Mike said. I've seen several that worked properly when pulled from the machine, but after sitting for year(s) the drums and bearings have rusted. The last one was supposed to have been "just rebuilt". When split open, and the rusty bands peeled off the rusty drums....the band material that did stay intact measured .105-.110, so it WAS a fresh rebuilt one. Too bad it needed $400 in parts AND all 4 drums turned to be usable again. In my opinion, if it is not a fresh rebuilt, then it is a rebuildable core. Really no middle ground. If it is a good one, split it open, send in the bands for relining, and sell it as rebuilt. Just make sure to inspect the bearings and other parts well, and replace whats worn. I've been getting $600+core for rebuilts....cores are usually AFU, but 2 can often be made into one good one. It may sound like a lot of money, but it really isn't....parts add up quick, and turning/ polishing drums is very time consuming/expensive...... There has to be an easier way to make some toy money
