  • T-20 Output sprocket

Anybody have any tips for removing the bearing inside the output sprocket that supports the input shaft?

Also, any tips on where to buy the replacement (guessing RI) and how to put it in?

    Thanks,

    George

One option is to use a dremel with a small cut off wheel. You then make multiple cuts in the lip of the bearing that hold in the needles of the bearing. Be careful not to cut too deep and through the outside of bearing and into the sprocket. Then bend the lip down and the neeles will fall out leaving only the shell of the bearing. At this point you will be able to collapse the thin wall of the bearing on itself and pull it out with needle nose pliers. Use a wooden dowel the same diameter of the bearing and it will tap right in with out any damage. Just did mine about 15 minutes total time. They do make a small bearing puller but it is expensive.

        Hey Drew,

I'm not sure we're talking about the same bearing. I believe this one is pressed in. It's made up of needle bearings. It's diameter is about the same as a quarter. It's right inside the output sprocket. I'll take a picture tomorrow.

The wooden dowel part I mentioned is for installing the new bearing.

i take a 3/8 cold rolled bar and bend it towards the end and sharpen it
so its flat, run it through the oppisite end and drive it out, its a biotch

                  HI,
Commonly refered to as a collet pulling tool [allows pulling of brg or bush from a blind hole also .
Description basically a slide hammer attached a chuck that expands a 1/16 lip behind bearing
                  kits available 3/8 and larger

A thin walled needle roller bearing installs best with a machined to size punch
If u do not use a machined tool for install even the slightest damage can go unnoticed and cause binding of needles

                  tomo
