  • Transmission Gear oil

    Again, the manual and reality don't match. The manual says to fill to the dip stick line, and the transmission should hold .85 liters or about 1.8 US pints, or about 30 onces. When checked, the fluid level was high. I drained the transmission and replaced the oil with 30 oz (measured) of a Hypoid gear oil. Guess what, the dip stick still indicate I have too much oil in the transmission. So is the dip stick wrong or is 30 oz too much oil? Anyone else have this problem?

      It's a Conquest, I don't know what the transmission is, the opreator manual dosn't say, just two forward and two reverse. The transmission serial # ends with 'MU'

        Your transmission is a medium geared transmission...

        HU= High gear
        MU= Medium gear
        HA= low gear.

          I would imagine the 30 oz is when the transmission is completely empty. I doubt that you emptied it completely when you drained it so just drain some more out until it is at the full line.

            What Mike said. You probably did not empty the tranny all the way before filling.

              I put the used oil in a old oil jug, I put in just about as much as I took out, a little less than a US quart. I guess i'll be pumping some out

                I have a drain plug on the bottom. How can I completely empty the transmission?

                  You can jack the machine up until more of it runs out but I wouldn't worry about it. Just drain what comes out while on level ground. If you change it regularly you will be fine.

                    I just changed on my buffalo and took an air hose with nozzle and blew pressure in the upper hole and all the oil blew out the bottom hole. I also had jacked the front up about a foot.
