Plunger lubrication

Rebuilding my T20 on my Max 2 at a remote cabin. I've read the rebuild articles on the "How To" section and they recommend using Vaseline to lube plungers when re-installing them. All I have available to me is Dex/Merc and grease from my grease gun. Will a little grease be Ok, and not break down my bands or tranny fluid?

Using grease will not hurt your transmission. As a side note, some people won't use any kind of petroleum based product at all, Vaseline included, as it can dry out certain types of orings. Ideally a silicone based lubricant is best but on the other hand, I've seen a couple of transmission technicians use nothing but petroleum jelly.

Thanks for the quick reply. Took your advice and they slid right in with minimal grease.
