I cannot remember the exact number of links, but I did have more master links than I needed so I could separate the big chain into whatever size I needed on the trail. Count the number of links in each chain and make sure yourmasters are spaced accordingly. some of your spare lengths with contain more than one master link, perfectly fine in an emergency.
