Hello all!
Long time Argo fan here. I have a 1987 6x6 Argo that's been in the family since 1989. We beat it up pretty good for years until it broke down and then sat behind the garage for 10 years. I decided 5 years ago to bring it back to life with a complete rebuild. Everything was replaced except the trans, axles and sprockets. That decision has caused me problems since the old shear pin holes were worn out and I needed bolts to replace the old pins. The bolts work fine but I'm still breaking them off Constantly. I've tried stainless, grade 5 and grade 8 but with no success. I've read about people drilling out the holes to 3/8 and using hardened bolts for a replacement. Since the newer design uses splined shafts I don't see a need for the shearing option. Any suggestions as to a fix once and for all?
Thanks for any input,
Mick
