If your fan is working, look at the fluid to make sure it has not turned, check that the discs are clean of oils. If you change the fluid use for 5.
We have as a family somewhere around 8-10000 hours on first gen machines between the 4 of us with hydraulic brakes, the only issues we have had were either heat, debris, fluid or fluid leakage like bad seals in caliper or master.
