  • 2007 Argo Frontier Repair Questions???

I just got a 2007 Argo Frontier that needs repairs so I am starting the project.

Transmission question??? I noticed that the transmission has 2 disc brakes on each side of the transmission, when I put it in gear only one disc turns, so I assume the transmission has problems. Can anyone give me an idea what may be the problem and how major the repair is? (Chains are taken off unit)

Sprocket Question??? I noticed the front sprocket looks like it has been sliding over on the axle. The kid I got the Argo from said the sprocket is supposed to do that. (I dont believe him) So are any sprockets supposed to move on axles?? Or should they all be locked down with a set screw in the sprocket to axles?

Brake Question??? The steering has a piston that that feeds into a mini brake cylinder then to disc brakes that are mounted on the transmission. When turning to left the piston is stuck and will not depress. So is this part just needing replaced??

Welcome to the club , I am doing much the same with a 2007 Frontier started with the cooling issue or lack there of and currently got a high RPM at idle and no choke operation / effect .....I will answer with what little I know and a lot of what I have learned here so far .... Yes the sprockets are and do slide on the axle shafts in front ... yup I asked the same question here also .... I strike out on the other two questions but there is a great group /support here and I am sure you will get the answers you seek ... Do you have the parts manual? If not they are available for download and may help ...
Again Welcome and Good Luck ..

Most have a serial number span between each new upgrade /factory change for example all machines from 08/2006 starting with #15228(Argo Manual #606-85) are covered until the next print on 1/30/2007 starting with #15537 (Same Argo Ref. #606-85) that is on line here on Argo links above... just have to figure out which one you have via the serial number and start looking at what fits ...

Anyone with info on transmission question from above please reply. Also are there any shops that rebuild transmissions ??

the trans is a limited slip differential so if you put the break on one side the other will stop turning and visa versa so stop the one that is turning and see if the other starts moving. If not you have a trans problem

              Thanks for the info.
As soon as I got the rest of the chains off. I realized exactly what u told me. So the transmission is good.

Next question??? Can the disc brakes be turned down on lathe?? or just replaced?? Since the pads were down to metal???
