Yeah I went through it also. The nice thing about it is the parts are pretty much the same for axle to axle till you get to the outside bearing flanges. study it well and make a list of your own on paper it helps to make head and tails out of it and the count for parts. I ordered all my parts for the argo superstore in colorado, they don't have the best site to see parts but are very helpful on the phone. I use points west argo to get parts also but mainly to see the parts in a real picture, then it starts to make sense of the diagram from argo. points west argo has a good website for parts but a little slow loading use it for a reference when making your list. I also assume you have the corresponding parts number page to your exploded diagram, it'll give part counts needed per part for the entire diagram. I also got chains and bearings from buffalo bearings recommended by many on this site. I think for my bigfoot all but two front chains and all bearings was 281.00$ with shipping to R.I. Call the Gregs, father and son, they are also very helpful as I had no idea what bearings i needed when i ordered. I tried to get all the obvious parts on hand before I took anything apart. I told Greg I had an argo and I was surprised he already knew what I needed as far as the bearings went.

Oh, I do see the other flange. It's in the first pic on page 1. It looks toasted too.

And just so you know, I don't think your outer bearing (and assembly) are going to be good.

If not, call Tim at Adair and do that axle HD. In the long run you'll be ahead.

        You are the man, JohnF.

There's the rest of that d*mn bearing! lol

I needed the parts diagram broke down for me, mainly needed someone to tell me to look at the assy between 24 (the sprocket) and 29(the bolt). Too much crap going on and I was getting lost... smoke another one

Now it's much more clear!! I didn't understand what a flange or bearing was either - lol

I am going to replace the inner assy (flanges/gasket/bearing) first. I understand that if I rode much with a busted inner bearing that it's likely I damaged the outer as well. I'll test for play in the axle once the inner is replaced and we'll go from there.

I guess the flanges are going to be specific to Argo, huh? I was going to search for a local in-stock option for bearings but if I'm required to order the flanges online I reckon I'll order the bearing too. (Everyone seems to love buffalo bearings)

Thanks trev and dan and RD and JohnF!

          argoadventure.com

          101-20 = $5.51 (flange)
          605-63 = $3.52 (flange)
          101-41 = $33.06 (bearing)

605-99 Flange Gasket - not on their site. Is this what members are saying to use cardboard for?

Is that about right for a bearing? I enjoyed how simple it was to find parts on their site.

that gasket i believe has been dropped from the parts inventory. i ripped one and tried to get a new one and was told argo doesn't see them as necessary. i made one out of rubber, so yes buy a twelve pack, cut your gasket real purdy and celebrate the accomplishment with beer. or get the twelve pack empty it one can at a time being sure to dispose of each can fluids properly, then cut the most perfect gasket you've ever seen. even if the gasket is not cut perfectly to shape you still will have reaped the most important benefit of the process by properly disposing of that twelve pack, then toss that lousy gasket and proceed with reassembly. I think buffalo bearings will get you a better deal on bearings than 33.06$ definately worth a call.

After I got my C0nquest I did a complete bearing change.. all 20.. Glad I did, I discovered several bad other then the 2 I knew of. I learned alot in the process too. Anti-seize stuff when you put it back together. I replaced about half my stamped flanges too, bent and stress cracked. I also replaced all my bolts, lock washers and plain nuts. All new grade5 zine bolts, washers, and lock nuts. I found several bolts that had lost their nuts, I dunno what was holding it together. You can get the bolts from Fastenal pretty cheap. I would go ahead and replace all the lock washers and plain nuts right now.

it is amazing how robust these machines are! it's comforting once you go through it, knowing all is good. i locked my motor up and had to push mine about 20 yards to put back in he shed. can't imagine being stuck out in the bush.

I don't drink a lot but maybe it'll be an excuse to buy a box of cigars and make some gaskets from that.

The inside of the flanges look gashed up.

My "missing" bearing, this was a wh*re to get off the axle. In retrospect, was I supposed to loosen set-screws in it before removing? We used PB Blaster and elbow grease.

This is my NEW main issue lol (maybe). It seems like there is no outer bearing at all? The ring/washer/whatever in the dead center of the first picture moves. I can push it all over in that channel. Is there something missing? I expected a bearing in there but I really don't know.

Thanks in advance for the help!!!

Yes, there should be a Bearing in there.
Something doesn't seem right here. I don't think you have a 1997 machine there, Don't think it's a Conquest either.

Anyone know when ODG switched from the 2 bolt Bearing Carriers to the 4 Bolt ones?

I've seen his machine at Busco.. It is a conquest, just some crappy photography.. It does have the 4 bolt, they are just that dirty.

IF you look close you can see the outer cast flange has both the grease seals in it and allot of dirty grease. Behind that second seal is the bearing. It is there, right where it is supposed to be. Go inside the body and remove the 4 nuts and lock washers to the flange and remove the outer flange from the bearing extension. Leave the 6 bolts on the outside of the bearing extension alone. Clean it out very well and inspect the bearing. I am betting it is trashed. Go ahead and order a new one from Buffalo Bearing. Tell them you need a UC206-20 R3 bearing. It is about $14. You will also need a new cork gasket from an Argo Dealer, I know Ken has them in stock and they are cheap, about $1 each. Argo Part# 605-89 Gasket, Outer Bearing Flange, Cork.

Clean the flanges as best you can, If they are trashed you can replace them as well. Argo Part# 605-63 Flange - 4 Hole and Argo Part# 101-20 Flange, Greasable - 4 Hole. They are about $3.50 and $5.50 each. If the grease seals are torn they can be replaced as well. Those can also get those from an Argo dealer..

After you get it out and when you are ready to put it back together, make sure you replace the lock washers and plain nuts with SAE washers and 3/8" locknuts.

I've been off the reservation for a few days, just now checking this.

Thanks for the response! I've been an awful Argo caretaker, been putting her to WORK this weekend. (On 7 wheels)

Hopefully I didn't bend the frame. All families involved thoroughly enjoyed our 7-wheeler rides. lol
