    argojim,

The Front chains are extremely loose and looks like the trans chain is shot, its all stiff. The left side of the argo needs all new tensioners the back two are broke upper and lower. I pulled the rear axles out to check the bearings and it looks like on the outer bearing there is a flange on the outside but not on the inside. The outer grease flange is egg shaped because the axle was just flopping around. So my question is there should be 2 flanges a bearing right? inner and outer? How can i fix the excessive flop on the front two chains?
    Thanks,
    Derek

Yes, two flanges, inner and outer. One uses a zerk fitting, other is plain. Its this way on my Avenger.

Ok thanks... It didn't have it on any of the inner axles so caused a lot of problems!

Derek, if the front chains are stretched you need to just replace the but check the bearings on the front axles and idler shafts first as if the bearings are worn those pieces can move. The trans chains need replacing also and are adjustable by loosening the 3 15/16 headed bolts in the powerpack and adjusting the 3/8 bolts under it. Do any stiff chains.
The chain tensioners are still available in cast metal, if you have the older steel version that are still good I would leave them as they are stronger and break less.

The outer bearings have a cork gasket (or 2 on some) one steel flange and one aluminum flange contoured like the steel flange with one replaceable seal, if the aluminum flange is egged replace it with the updated double sealed flange. All parts for the outer bearings are outside the body. The inner bearings have 2 steel flanges, one greaseable, and a paper gasket that has been discontinued. If your inner flanges are 2 bolt you can upgrade to the 4 bolt.

          Hope this helps Jim
