I use a plastic tie strap wrap it through the two ends and sinch it up you can use pliers to get it tight enough then put your connector link in and snip the tie strap with a side cutter.

I remade mine, just wanted to see if I could. Might not have been the cheapest route lol.
Had to remove the washer on the bottom side as the sprocket needs to be able to move a little.

What myles has pictured is the a hybrid of the first style tensioner. The original tensioner would have had a plastic idler sprocket where the flat block is now held on buy a snapring, the rest is mostly stock.
I would have inserted a picture but having problems capturing it through Adobe.sigpic
My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
Joe Camel never does that.
