  • Cutting on Conquest dash

I just got in 6 new rocker switches for lights, brake fan and such. I am about to order a new rocker for the winch just make it look nicer. And was thinking of adding another rocker for a horn, just to be safe. So instead of cutting a 8 holes in the dash. I though it would be easier to cut one. But I cant find a mount that will hold all 8 rockers. I did how ever find 1 that will hold 6 and 1 that will hold 3. I can get a plug for the 9th hole. My question is, is it going to be ok to cut that much of my dash out? I could if I really had to cut it down to only 6 switches if I had to. But I think having the extra space incase I need it in the future would be a good idea. What do you guys think? Thanks for any and all comments.

I'm not sure there is enough room on it or behind it to do so as there are a lot of tightly run wires behind it. If you were to place it on the opposite side of where your vin plate is may be better but harder to see, unless you have a heater kit which the vents would then be in the way.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

I was looking at that. There is a group of wife's there. But I think they would push out of the way enough to get the switches in. My biggest worry is if somehow cutting a hole would take away from the structure of the argo. I don't think it would, bu thought I would ask just to be safe.

I put 6 new style rocker switches and a marine stereo in my 2003 conquest. I used a pair of rocker panels from a late model Argo....not sure what year. I had no issues with space under the dash.

        Sorry I don't have a better picture

As far as strength goes I've had no issues..... put well over 100 hrs on it since.

Just remember..... measure twice and cut once...lol

Forgot to mention.... I also ran two defrost vents and a windshield washer bottle....it does get a little tight in there...but it wouldn't be called an Argo...lol

I put in a second fuse panel to take some of the load off the factory fuse block. I recommend this if you want to run extra accessories.

Thanks for all the info. I'll be sure to measure twice cut once. What did you use to cut yours?

Also if I add a fuse block, I wont need to add a bunch of inline fusses. Correct?

Correct. A fuse block negates the need for inline fuses. I apply masking tape, draw my hole (with a shop vac hose behind it to cetch cuttings) the muse a saber saw. The worst that can happen is it will leave "fuzzies" around the hole, but a pocket knife will clean them up.'also, if you put a cover over that, no one will know if your hole is crooked but you

Well I'm not completely happy with it. But nothing I can do now. The saw got away from me so I have a little gash in the dash now. But over all it will work great. Here are a couple pics.

Also like any project. I have opened a can of worms. Noticed that some of the wiring in brittle and is going to need replacing. But this beast is well worth it.
