  • My new Conquest

I kind of introduced myself in a few other posts but I thought I would share some pictures from my first trip out with my new Argo Conquest. I picked up a 97 with a winch, aluminum hard/soft top and bilge pump with 450 hrs on it and I just bought a set of supertracks from Roger. For the first trip out I took a 26 mile cruise out to the Knick Glacier about 45 miles north of Anchorage. I made it all the way out there with a buddy of mine and we grilled some steaks in an ice cave and spent a little time exploring and playing. Then the trip out proved to be a little tougher. I broke the drive sprocket/break disk about a mile and a half from my truck. Luckily I had just crossed the last creek and I was able to get out and get my truck/trailer back there far enough to rescue it. Made for a long day, but it was an adventure! I am a wildlife photographer as a side job and in the US Air Force full time with a little over a year until I retire. If any of you are in Alaska or get a chance to make it up here look me up!

Wonderful Pictures! What a great place to explore. Congrats on making the twenty next year. Semper Fi.

    P.S. Enjoy your machine.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

Aluminum roll cage for hard / soft top

Cory . What Beautiful pictures. I have not seen a roll cage made of aluminum before. Is everything aluminum including the angle that fastens to the machine? My new steel cage makes my Avenger a little less stable in the water.

Yes, the entire top is Aluminum. It is pretty light for as much metal is in it, but it is still a little unstable in the water. Not too bad. I am going to try taking the spare tire off the top next time I cross water and see if its any better. I was easily able to cross the rivers/creeks, but it would lean a bit when we werent quite balanced.

Cory, your pictures are incredible. The landscape is amazing and throwing an argo in there makes it even better. I take it that the photography website is yours?

Thank you. I am sure now with an argo in my garage I will get to explore and photograph even more of this incredible state. I'll keep you all posted on my progress! Mike, yes the website is mine. I focused mainly on wildlife for about the last 12 years, but lately I have been as much or more into just exploring and photographing whatever I see that I like.

Glad you got it out OK,,,Dab alittle "Never-Seize" on that output shaft before sliding your new sprocket back on ! Not to much though,,,dont get any on your brake Rotor !,,,Later,,,Mark

PS,,Hmmm that Sprocket/Rotor may be a good thing to have as a spare,,Now that I hear about this !!!

                      Hi Cory,

Great pictures, I'm sure you've heard the old saying, "the best photos are spontaneous". it would seem to me that you have captured natures best.

Cory, I live in Wasilla. Give me a shout if you want to ride Baldy off of Swiftwater Creek. I have a Max IV and would be happy to buddy-up.
I ride a brown '96 Max 4 (skid plate, roll cage, 26" Rawhides, 20hp, custom winch and tow plates) with a 2K front winch and a 4K come-along for back up. I pack 20'tow-strap, 2 chains and 2 hooks,a jeep jack, and a big block of PT wood. Also an axe and chainsaw. And mechanic tools. I have a tote with a tarp and bungees. Spare parts. Two rifles. Hey, arent I supposed to be able to have three passengers?
