I had a really stuck front axle in my conquest when I did a complete bearing change. I went out and bought a slide hammer just like the one on the right in Rockdoc pic. Three hits and it was out. Oh and wear a good leather glove on your hand that is slamming the weighted grip. I got my slide hammer kit for $75.Last edited by Dan67; 08-07-2014, 10:29 PM.

The best way I've found, and I have several slide hammers, is to buy a cheap air chisel gun (WalMart has them) and cut the pointed one off flat and start banging inside the hub. The sharp continuous rap will loosen the worst of them. Of course I'm assuming you have air, if not, slide hammer gets it done.

Its a lot quicker. Far less hassle.sigpic
My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
Joe Camel never does that.
Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

slide hammer puller, with a wheel stud bolt welded on the tip of the tool has worked very well for me, in addition if you have some space, i use hydraulic bottle jack (little 2 tons) inside (between frame rails channel, caution not to bend!) and i put a pressure on the axle while im slide hammering !
