Strange that Argo is not taking action on this.
Its completely inlogical that axles and bearings should be a problem on a light weight machine, with very soft tyres.

Was looking at the other post and said those axles look like truck parts. Used up fab KID axles from Chevy stock. Are you retaining the bearing or is it press fit? I agree with you set screw retained axle bearings are the best way to ruin an axle I know of. I like the eccentric lock or squeeze lock for staying put on an axle. Nice work you shouldn't be walking from axle failures again. Just did my first Centaur axle and it's a brute in oil filled housing.

That looks like a nice heavy duty set up. Hope you have more trapping and less downtime this year.

new argo axle
the axles are from 2000 jeep cherokee same bolt pattern. i annealed them machined them and now going to furnace harden them again. thanks if you run tracks a lot you will have this same problem. i walked 10 miles in 22 below zero temps no cell signal back to my truck because of the axles failing. and the bearings spin on the axles cutting a groove in them, and eventually they fail more pics coming.Originally posted by riotwarrior View PostWhat are the axles from?

I agree, you get what you pay for, the best axles, sprockets, chains and bearings will more than pay for themselves with long life and trouble free operation.

Looks like a nice job on the axles. Great pics of the argo in the winter as well. I am sure you will have many hours of fun with that machine.

my new argo axle design, the way they should have been made.
i was tired of breaking argo axles and walking back home, so i made my own. check out the stock argo axle pics. these are just two of several axles that broke on me while trapping in the winter with tracks, never had problem with the axles when running on tires.these new axles have pressed on sealed bearings and a added double lip seal pressed in the new heavy duty bearing support. and the axles are one piece not the welded on flange type (failure from the start) axle. and their set screw bearings are a joke period... some feed back on this would be great. also some pics of my machine. thanks trapper jackTags: None
