How to adjust the holding brake system on an Argo. The right holding brake is keeping the stick from going up against the dash block?

  • #2
Pictures tell a lot, did you mount the arm upside down?

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

No, the stick is close but not tight to the dash block but the right one is. Then when I will the sticks back it brings on the holding brake lever ( left)

Sounds like it is upside down ,it shouldnt engage by itself. On your model I think you had to pull lever and raise the parking brake lever, then to release it just pull back.Have you looked at the online manual and compared it?

My two folding brake handles are always up on the plastic of the dash not down so upside down or? And to engage it I pull the levers down and pull the holding brake levers down to but the Levine slips off of the notch on the left steering lever

Also I noticed I am using the springs that are used in the chain tensioners, maybe that could be the problem? But it seems like the steering colum is to far the the left because the metal frame under the steering levers actually goes into the spring and is caught in there. Will try new springs and then will adjust? Any ideas if I am still wrong

Adjust the body support that rests on the trans, lift the body upward while tightening it.

I am using the right springs? Those big ones in the chain tensioners? Also it's only the left stick that don't stay down. The holding brake lever just moves in and the brake lets go the bar isn't bent or anything I don't know what's wrong?

So going blindly into this query, is it possible that you have either trapped the throttle cable under the spring or assembled the twist throttle in a way that it contacts the dash board obstructing the free travel of said stick?

Ok let's get this strait lol sorry for all the confusion,my Argo is in at the cabin 10 min from here, there was no school for me the past two days due to storms,so I change a picture of I sorry. Ok here I is with the two springs on the left stick hits the dash block normally and the right one stops but almost there.the little tab sticking out off the right stick that the holding brake brings up into hat tab brings up in the arm of he holding brake. But say if I wanted to use the holding brake the right one works good but apply the left one the the holding brake skips of that tab on the steering lever and he steering lever goes against the dash block.

And the throttle cable was done due to the cable getting wore out under that piece of frame by your knees

So just looking at the picture in your gallery (kinda small and grainy or foggy) it looks like the holding brake arms need to be spread apart as they look slightly bent inward, the 2 allen head bolts in the holding arms should be near center of the roll pins crosswise in the sticks. Hope that works.
Next, I can't see it well but, kinda looks like the throttle cable is wedged between the dash and the firewall instead of in the opening it sits it for free travel.
                              Good luck.
