i just decided im going to clean up my argo big time! im gonna take the top off clean all the crap out of the frame maybe painy it clean all sprokets and drive and so on!is this difficult and say if i run into trouble will i find someone who can help me?

well got the top off! will change oil filter and othwr stuff.any suggestions on what else i should do?

Since the upper body is off you might want to straighten the square tubing under the seat that holds up the outer body shell. That will take care of your sag in the middle. It doesn't appear too bad but they have a bow.

ok! the starter is under the shroud isnt it? also when taking the oil filter off will oil spill out or just a little?

when I rebuilt my I/C and the conquest,the machines were both stripped down to the bare nakedness.engine and frame out,everything washed and the frame painted.that way you can check all the bearings properly.also after you get it back together,you will know how to do a repair because you've taken it apart once and seen how everything works.

So take the engine and tranny out? How hard is the frame to get out?

frame comes right out when the axles are all removed unless your skid plate is riveted to the frame .find my thread from a few years ago,all the pictures are there.

The engine is 130 pounds,I heard there is a hoist on the engine that you can hook up to where is it?

UPDATE!!! got all the chains out again and one side of all the axles out!.tmr i will do the rest of the axles and try to get the tranny and engine out and then tub cleaning still need some info on hoisting the engine out/

curtis, from looking at the photo of the motor i think you could rig up a sling to cradle the engine under the clutch and the other side of the motor. if you can fasten a come a long to a rafter on the cieling then slowly winch it up. you may need to slide the tub out of the way, then let the motor down. if no rafters are easy to get to , maybe fasten a strong board across from wall to wall. otherwise get a friend and sling it to a strong board long enough that each guy can stand on either side of the tub, lift it and walk it out. just some ideas.... keep at it.... thanks for sharing the pictures johnboy va.

On the service manual it just shows and engine on a slant with one hook hooked onto one side of the motor? So if I put something around the clutch as well will it hold or am I risking damaging parts? Also yea there is a rafter right above the engine, I hung off it and I am almost 150 pounds and it barley moved so if should be good for 130/140

Curtis I marked with an arrow what appears to be two lift eyes on top of your engine. Of course I can't tell from the photo how substantial these are, or what they bolt to, so don't take my word for it....but if they are lift eyes, tie into each one and start lifting. If it is heavy on the clutch side, take a tow strap or piece of rope or something and run around the clutch shaft to hold it level.
