Its in and complete, just need a new throttle cable, gasser clutch works great, they say these diesels are good for 3700rpm out of the box, i added a fresh hour meter to see how long she lasts for, i had the motor in and out a few times to get rid of some of the vibration, it now has 3 dense layers of rubber to soften up most of the vibration, the stock exhaust had to be removed so i ended up fabing it to where it would sit if it were stock, came out real good and has a heavy duty support, 300 amp battery works good

Looks and sounds good. With 8 wheels AND tracks, I can see where you would be wanting the extra H/P and deisel motor. Nice work, have fun.
It's all just nuts and bolts.

Thanks, Now i need a way to prevent the muffler from melting the body, it is evenly spaced in the body so should i build some sort of heat shield? i have aluminum, stainless, metal sheet at the shop, and i also have the brake blower that i could use to blow the exhaust/heat out the body as well?

Sounds like you are right on track. I would go with aluminum for the shield, and the blower is a definite plus!

                        Diesel project

Nice work eightwheeler!!!! I tough about dooing the same but couldn t figure that a 10hp diesel would be enough to replace a 18hp twin... I can't wait to see your 8x8 in action... You gonna give the itch to a lot of guys with your project....

That looks great. Are you close to the GTA so some of us locals can check it out?
As for engine kill, you will either need to set up a kill switch for the fuel pump (maybe use a battery kills switch), or use a mechanical cable to open up the air intake to stall her. I like the battery kill switch myself. Does she take unspent fuel and push back through the filter? It will be nice in the summer since you will generate much less heat than with a gas engine, but not so good in the winter.

Thanks fella's, sorry i have no pics for ya's yet, i have too busy playing with it all day. So i wanted to test out the power it has so i took it to a huge hill i have climbed before by my place and it didnt even bog down the slightest, it smoked like a locomotive mind you but the power was awesome!!! my gassers definatly do bog down and need full throttle to get up it, but the Torque from the diesel was there with plenty to spare!!! i rolled 2.6 hours on the meter today without a hickup at all. I totally recommend doing the swap to anyone, BUT make sure you flush the oil at least twice within the first 10 mins, the first time i changed the oil there was a aluminum flake stuck in the filter the size of a nickel!!!

I have read this about these engines on other forums too. I suppose one could do a tear down and clean and inspect / blue print so to speak the engine prior to installation.

It would be a good idea to check head bolt torque too and any other critical bolt. Again a tear down would allow thread locker compound once engine is thoroughly inspected and cleaned.

Now can anyone find or suggest a turbo charger for this little beast? Imagine an intercooled turbo on this sucka

Looks like my trip on the way home is going to be more expensive than I thought. Did you use the standard primary clutch or did you have to rob it from somewhere else. I'm hoping the one on my 16 Tec will do.
